Current Bedtime Favorites

We all need our beauty sleep. How we take care of ourselves before bed determines our quality of rest, and ultimately, our energy to begin a new day. In high school, I made a terrible habit out of falling asleep in front of my laptop screen with Netflix still running and a full face of messy, day-old makeup. I would spend the next day struggling to keep my eyes open after rolling out of bed, throwing my hair in a ponytail and hauling my butt off to school. As I dive into my early twenties, while still not getting enough sleep, I have made good bedtime habits a top priority, because if you can’t get a good nights sleep, you are only setting yourself up for a rough day ahead! Your twenties are your time to hustle and your time to thrive, and the last thing you want to do is sleep through them. The key thing to remember is that you need to put yourself first; these products have not only helped me get a good night’s sleep, but made the chore of getting ready for bed something to look forward to.

for the shower:

Etta+Billie: Lavender Hand & Body Wash, $25, Rosemary Lemon Sea Salt Body Scrub, $12*

Etta+Billie is a skincare brand based out of SF and prides itself in creating skincare using all natural ingredients. I was so excited to try these out when they were gifted to me earlier this month, I had so much trouble deciding which scents to choose from because everything on Etta+Billie’s website sounded like a dream! I finally settled on the Lavender Hand/Body Wash and the Rosemary Lemon Sea Salt Body Scrub and within weeks they have become a shower staple of mine. The Lavender scent is rich and refreshing and the Sea Salt Scrub is exfoliating and easy to use. I was hesitant to choose a scrub at first because I’ve had many that have been too rough on my skin and made a mess on my shower floor. Etta+Billie’s solid form and smooth cocoa and shea butter is the perfect solution to that problem.

Glossier Body Hero Daily Oil Wash, $18

Last month, Glossier launched Body Hero, including an Oil Wash and Perfecting Cream. Think of it as the Phase 3 set! I was super excited when Glossier announced these products, and the rest of the world was too. The campaign was beautiful and empowering, and I think the GTeam deserves a medal for this one. Even Kim K uses Body Hero. I held off on purchasing the Perfecting Cream because I currently have way more lotions and body creams than I know what to do with. A body wash from Glossier is something I’ve dreamed of since the brand took over my morning beauty routine, and I am thrilled to now include the Daily Oil Wash in my nighttime routine. The oil lathers and froths once it’s hit by water and provides a gentle, hydrating clean. The scent is subtle but luxurious. Glossier has done it again.

Harper + Ari Peach Sugar Cubes, $22*

Harper + Ari makes exfoliating sugar cubes that smell good enough to eat (even though you can’t, such a bummer). They currently have 6 fun flavors to choose from, including Coconut, Peach, Tangerine, Blue Raspberry, Apricot, and Lemon. I use their Peach flavored cubes in the shower once a week to exfoliate and nourish my entire body. One cube typically does the trick, but I prefer to cut the cubes in half before use to avoid being wasteful and I use them as I need them! The glass jar is huge and I certainly don’t see myself running out anytime soon.

for the vanity:

BioClarity Clear Skin System, $29.95, Hydrate Skin Smoothie, $19.95*

BioClarity is a 3 step, twice a day system that uses plant-based science to target the root cause of your breakouts. While I don’t have acne prone skin, I still get tiny breakouts here and there and BioClarity helps tremendously with reducing those breakouts, balancing my skin, and minimizing redness. For best results, it is suggested to use all 3 steps together, but I typically skip the first step (Cleanse) and use my personal favorite cleanser from Glossier. The second step, Treat, targets redness and breakouts and minimizes pores, so I complete this step only once a day since my skin tends to be somewhat dry. BioClarity’s Hydrate Skin Smoothie is their newest product, a moisturizer containing Floralux, a plant-based ingredient derived from chlorophyll. it detoxifies, balances, contains anti-aging vitamins. I use these products before bed most days and it does a fantastic job of keeping my skin clear and balanced.

Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask, $22

Surprise, surprise, another Glossier product! While Glossier’s two masks aren’t marketed as frequently as some of their newer launches and best sellers, that is not to say that their face masks are any less stellar – I actually believe that this is one of Glossier’s best products. I use this as an overnight mask a couple times a week by applying a thin layer after I’ve washed my face, and I wake up practically glistening. This mask is insanely hydrating and soothing and leaves your skin looking fresh and dewy.

Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream, $22

I’m a huge fan of Mario Badescu’s products. I love how affordable and accessible they are to the average person; you can purchase them at Ulta, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom, etc. I purchased the Seaweed Night Cream on a whim at Urban and it quickly became a bedtime favorite. It’s lightweight, absorbs into the skin easily, and it is ever so soothing. A little goes a long way with this cream – you don’t need to pile it on!

for you –

Kindle Paperwhite, $119.99

My Kindle Paperwhite was an impulse purchase of mine over the summer. I had caught the reading bug again and I wanted to invest in an e-reader after hearing friends rave about them. Thanks to my Kindle, the reading bug stuck. Some days, I use my Kindle more than I use my iPhone. It’s that good. For one, the battery lasts weeks, so if I fall asleep reading it and forget to plug it in, it has no impact on the next day. The device uses electronic ink, so the screen looks just like regular paper and does not cause eye strain. In my opinion, reading a good book before bed is one of the best ways to let your brain unwind and settle yourself in for a good night’s sleep.

P.F. Candle Co Soy Candle, $18

This candle has been on my bedside table for quite some time now, and I love how soothing the smell is. I keep it burning while I’m masking, reading, and tidying up before bed. P. F. Candle Co just released their candles for the fall season as well, and the Spiced Pumpkin is calling my name.
